Decision-conferencing

A technique whereby managers consider and debate in a facilitated workshop the relative weightings to attach to the organization's strategic objectives, the criteria to be used to assess strategic contribution in each case; and the scores to allocate to individual initiatives.

In this way the portfolio governance body comes to a collective decision on the composition of the portfolio. This has been found to be very effective in terms of optimizing portfolio returns and also results in enhanced commitment to the portfolio and to the portfolio management processes.
