Batch Production

The traditional manufacturing method of processing large batches in order to keep equipment and people busy and reduce the relative cost of down-time changing between products. Inventory causes extended lead times (see Little's Law) and slow response to customers. Contrasts with lean just-in-time small batch or single part working, enabled by right-sized equipment and rapid changeovers
